What Is SEO Copywriting?
Copy written for search engines sits in the sweet spot between being discoverable to search engines, and being effective to read. That means using the right keywords, structure and on-page SEO without sacrificing clarity, usefulness, personality or persuasion.
The result is a page that’s technically sound, relevant to what people search for, and written to turn the right visitors into enquiries, calls, bookings or sales.

SEO Website Content for Australian Small Businesses
We work with small businesses right across Australia, from the big cities to regional towns with local search always in mind.
That means the copy will feel Australian, speak with local knowledge, and be structured for how Australians search.
- Local search intent — suburb and city pages that match how people look for services around here.
- Australian English — spelling, phrases and tone that feel natural to your customers.
- Industry context — trades, professional services, hospitality and more, written with the local market in mind.
- Direct and local — you work with us (based in Australia) the entire time. No offshore teams.
Why ‘Good’ Pages Don’t Rank
It’s more than just keywords.
The page mentions the term but doesn’t give the searcher what they came for.
If you could swap in a competitor’s name and change nothing else, the page isn’t saying much.
One page covers several different services, making it unclear what the page should rank for or who it’s for.
Two pages target the same search, splitting their relevance and making it harder for Google to know which one to rank.
Prices, services and information change. If your page hasn’t changed with them, it can end up giving visitors the wrong information.
Publishing every Tuesday doesn’t make a page useful. Volume isn’t a strategy.
What Goes Into Strong Search-Optimised Copy
Every element needs to work for search engines and the person reading. Google’s own guidance is pretty simple: create content for people first, then use SEO to help them find it. That applies to everything from the words on the page to titles, headings and links.
| Element | Why it matters for SEO | Why it matters for readers |
|---|---|---|
| StrategySearch intent | Google matches results to what the searcher is trying to do. A page built for a different intent will struggle to rank for that query, however well it’s optimised. | They land on the answer or service they were looking for. |
| StrategyKeyword strategy | Ensuring that search algorithms know what the topic of the page is, and can rank it accordingly. | Pages need to include these keywords to reinforce the topic, but they should be woven in naturally. |
| StructureStructure & headings | Headings tell search engines what each section covers. | Visitors can skim and jump to the part they need. |
| StructureMeta title | Tells search engines what the page covers and is usually the headline shown in results. | Tells them the topic of the page in search engine results at a glance. |
| StructureMeta description | Doesn’t affect ranking directly, but Google may use it as the snippet under your title, so it influences who clicks. | A short preview of what they’ll find on the page without having to click through. |
| StructureInternal linking | Links between your pages help search engines find them and see how they relate. | Gives visitors a natural path to follow and keeps them on-site. |
| CraftNatural, readable language | Search engines can understand the topic from natural language and context, not just exact-match keywords. | Plain sentences are quicker to read, easier to act on, and are more trustworthy. |
| CraftContent depth & relevance | A page that covers its topic properly can match more of the related searches people make. | Visitors get true value from the visit to the web page, rather than shallow or unfocused content. |
| CraftOriginality | A page that only repeats what’s already in the results gives search engines little to choose it for. | People on the page are able to get something unique and therefore engage more with the content. |
| TrustE-E-A-T signals | Google looks for signs of experience, expertise, authority and trust, and weights them more heavily on topics that affect health, money or safety. | People don’t have many reasons to trust random websites. Giving them trust signals goes a long way. |
| TrustConversion copy & CTAs | Matches the page to what the searcher is likely to do next, whether that’s learn, compare or buy. | Gives users a clear path and reduces any friction for them to get the solutions they were looking for. |
In short: focused, helpful content that serves a purpose.
Why Quality SEO Copywriting Matters More Than Ever
AI may make content easier and faster to product, but that doesn't mean it does a good job. At the end of the day, quality writing respects the audience and the answers they are looking for.
Nuance makes the difference
Human writers bring emotion, context and personality that Ai-generated content often misses. Something with more life, not hollow perfection that sounds like everything else.
Strategy comes before writing
Research, insight and positioning goes a long way. And, with content generated from a prompt, it'll feel shoehorned in.
AI is a tool, not the whole process
Look, AI is useful for research and ideas (when supervised and fact-checked), BUT, judgement, accuracy and refinement still matter.
Quality is still kind
At the end of the day, quality content will result in stronger SEO. If its hollow, shallow, and 100% machine generated, it just won't do the job that proper writing does.
SEO, AEO and GEO: Writing for Search and AI Answers
Some of your customers are probably also using ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI answers for recommendations instead of scrolling a list of results.
In a 2025 study of 900 adults’ browsing, Pew Research found that people clicked a regular search result in 8% of visits when Google showed an AI summary, compared with 15% when it didn’t.
We write service pages with all three in mind: the searches that matter, the questions customers ask, and information stated plainly enough for search engines and AI tools to understand and use.
Got AI Content? Let Us Humanise It.
Most copywriters polish AI drafts. We've worked on the other side of the process.
As an AI tutor for some of the biggest AI companies out there, our writer worked directly with AI models and agents, crafting and testing prompts, evaluating their outputs and helping improve their reasoning, language and overall performance. In other words, they weren't just checking AI copy. They were helping improve the AI itself.
That experience combines with 18+ years of copywriting to understand exactly what makes AI writing feel off, and how to fix it.
We Can Write For Regulated Industries
Some industries can’t say whatever they like. Claims, disclosures and technical details need more care, but the copy still has to be clear, useful and persuasive.
- Written around your industry rather than filled with generic language.
- Complex information made clearer without dumbing it down.
- Your subject experts keep the final say on specialist claims and compliance.
And plenty of other fields where wording, claims or compliance need extra care.
What Does SEO Copywriting Cost?
Our rates are simple. $80 per hour for content written for search.
Many writers charge by the word, but not all words take the same amount of time to write. Some projects need more research, thought or editing than others.
We find it simpler to charge by the hour. If you give us plenty of existing material to work from, we can get the job done faster, so you’re not paying for words that happen to take less time. And for bigger or more complex projects, we can estimate the hours upfront, which makes planning and budgeting easier for everyone.
All prices are in AUD.

Request a quoteCommon Questions
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
Well, no. And no one should. Search rankings depend on too many things outside anyone’s control. What we can promise is thorough research, sound SEO practice and useful copy that’s written to give the page the best possible chance of performing well.
How much does SEO copywriting cost?
Our rate is $80 per hour, but of course every project is unique, so treat any total as a rough estimate until we get into the details. For instance, keyword research would be necessary, which adds to the time.
How long does it take?
A straightforward page usually takes around 3 to 5 hours. Research-heavy or technical projects take longer. It all depends on what I have to work with initially.
How many revisions do I get?
As many as it takes to get the copy right. We don’t like to nickel and dime over revisions and small changes (within reason). I like my clients to be happy.
Do you handle SEO as well, or just the writing?
The writing, built on solid SEO groundwork. Ongoing SEO such as technical fixes, link building and reporting is handled by our SEO services, and we can scope both together.
Can you write for regulated industries?
Yes, we can, but it would be in concert with a subject matter expert on your end to sense check the work and point out areas for improvement and compliance.
Is there a free consultation?
Sure – we can have a quick look at your site and tell you our initial findings over a call.
Do you write blog posts and articles, or just service pages?
Anything you want!
What do you need from us to get started?
Your website address, your current situation, your goals, and whether or not you’ve used an SEO copywriter before.
Do you only work with Australian businesses?
While these are our focus, we can work with international clients (and have). Everyone deserves good copy!
Can you rewrite a page I already have?
Sure, in many cases we'll work with existing pages which are old, too short, out of date, or simply not technically sound to perform well.
Do you use AI to write the copy?
No. All AI sounds the same, and your visitors and search algorithms will know it. We write it all by hand (well, keyboard) to make sure your copy is unique and has the best possible chance to perform on all fronts.
